Recent industry studies show that 91% of cyberattacks begin with phishing or spear-phishing emails. 37% involved stolen user credentials. These cyberattacks can be devastating for organizations of all sizes. For this reason, HP has now launched a new security feature in the HP Wolf Pro Security agent to ensure users are protected from inadvertently revealing their passwords to hackers. The HP Identity Protection browser extension is designed to detect and block malicious password theft sites and prevent end users from accidentally revealing their sensitive passwords.
By using a combination of known website details and a proprietary, dynamic scoring engine, HP Identity Protection will rapidly identify the risk level of a website based on its properties. When an end user visits a website that requires a login, the extension will prevent the user from entering their password and notify them that the site is malicious. Proactive Security users running Sure Click Pro v4.2.2 and above can easily activate the HP Identity Protection on Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (Chromium).
